Meet the Candidates

Michael Aregano is a 21-year veteran of the Cicero Police Department. He retired from law enforcement before being elected Cicero Town Supervisor in 2022, and served in that office from 2022 to 2025.

Born and raised in Central New York, he has deep roots in the Cicero community and has worked at Sacred Heart Church for the past 39 years, where he is an active member of the parish.

His campaign says that as Town Supervisor he kept the budget under the state tax cap, invested in public safety and infrastructure, and is running again because Cicero faces major regional investment and growth.

Tim Burtis has represented the 3rd District in the Onondaga County Legislature since his first term in 2015, and served as Chairman of the Legislature from 2024 to 2025.

He and his wife Christina live in Brewerton and have been residents of the Town of Cicero for 40 years. They have two grown sons. He holds an A.A.S. in Business Administration from Onondaga Community College and also attended Liberty University.

Before county office he served the Town of Cicero as Deputy Supervisor and as a Town Board member, and as Secretary for the Cicero Republicans. He currently sits on the Ways and Means and Health and Human Services committees, and has chaired Ways & Means, Planning & Economic Development, and the county Code of Ethics Advisory Committee.

Professionally he brings 28 years of financial experience, and is Dealer Relations Manager at Empower Federal Credit Union, having previously been Finance Director at Driver's Village.

James Corl describes himself as a fourth-generation Central New Yorker. He grew up in Cicero and stayed local for school, graduating from Cicero-North Syracuse High School and from Le Moyne College.

After graduation he worked in the New York State Senate as a Legislative Director, where, in his words, he saw first-hand how Albany's policies have led friends and family to leave the area for opportunities elsewhere.

He is running so that, as he puts it, a new generation can grow up and succeed in Central New York.

Bruce Blakeman is the Nassau County Executive, re-elected in 2025. His campaign describes him as a lifelong New Yorker, a two-term County Executive and a former Port Authority Commissioner on 9/11.

His campaign points to his Nassau record: hiring more than 600 new police and law enforcement officers, and eliminating $150 million in property tax hikes scheduled by his predecessor without raising property or sales taxes.

Sheriff Todd Hood is his running mate for Lieutenant Governor. A career law enforcement leader, Hood served more than two decades with the Syracuse Police Department, worked as an investigator with the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office, and was elected Sheriff of Madison County in 2018.
